03 October 2010

Hi,
we are back and we are looking forward to meet you all in Italy. We have got some new pupils in our class 7/8b. They are all in the 7th grade.
Our class has started the new school year with some special activities, for example a tombola.
Simon Merz has written about it.

Hallo,

On 25th September 2010 we made a tombola in our school. The days before we visited almost all shops in our town and asked for things we could use for the tombola. This was very heavy but we got a lot of things.

The tombola started with the “autumn - party” at our school at 10 o´ clock and ended at 14 o´ clock. We had very much good prizes so we sold one ticket for 1 €. We sold all tickets.

At last we earned 568,00 € and we were very glad about our success.

Final event of Spring day in Europe 2010 in school Žetale

Friday, 11th June 2010, we had final event in the framework of Spring Day in Europe 2010. Pupils throughout the school year participate in various competitions. Teachers in specific subjects and an extended stay in a few hours devoted to themes related to the Spring Day project. This has created quite a few products which have been exhibited in the school hall. For the closing event of the project Spring day, teachers who are involved in a Comenius project, made an exhibition of objects that are typical for Germany and Great Britain. In these two countries, namely in the project were to visit the Comenius partner schools. In the central part of the event, Ms. Tanya Nikolovski using projection images present a partner schools. Special emphasis was placed on the school premises, school equipment, school characteristics and nutrition, and relations between students and teachers. Students were very satisfied with the presentation because they get a comparison between our school and schools from Eggenfeldna and North Leigh. Italy partner schoo will be present in November after teachers visit it. In the coming school year, when guests come to us from Germany, Great Britain and Italy, they will ask for some diversified developments in the Spring Day project. Miran Železnik, teacher

KITES FOR EUROPE

On saturday 29th of may some coloured kites will fly in the sky of Fara Sabina. These kites have been made by some classes of our school, and children have decided to picture them with the flags of our european friends and partners. The flight ok the kites will constitute an artistic performance thought by a modern artist, inserted into an artistic international demonstration, called "20 eventi" (20 events). So our project will fly very high :-)!

RECYCLING in FARA SABINA

Hello friends, since the biginning of the year, children in our school have been collecting waste, separating paper and plastic. Two weeks ago, for the first time, children started to give these special rubbish to a very special "car": a car which weighs the waste with an electronicl system, and gives score for each kilo of paper or plastic collected. At the end of the next year, the class which will have the highest score, will win a prize! This is the result of the work planned togheter by the Major and our school, through the Comenius project: a great goal for our community, which didn't practice recycling before. Nice, is it?

A message from Sophie

I liked it when the visitors came to my school I liked it when the teachers asked me lots of questions and I could tell them the answers!! I told Torsten what everyone does in the Woodland. We have lots of fun there. Some children in my class were able to do cooking with the teachers. I am an eco-warrior for my class and I explained to the visiting teachers about Walk to School week.

A blog from Andrew, North Leigh School

Hello, It was great having some German Friends in Class 4 because they were able to tell us about their school. We were surprised that they started school early at 8 o'clock and finished school about 1.30pm. We don't finish until 3pm! I would like to visit their school in Germany to find out the different ways they learn and what they do. Goodbye from Andrew.

The Eco-Warriors!!

The Eco-Warriors explained how the children at North Leigh School were helping to save electricity at school and in their own homes. They explained that they had appeared on radio and television to talk about the contribution the school has made to the "Challenge North Leigh Village Project."
They described Walk to School weeks which help parents and children become more aware of how to save fuel energy and how this helps to improve the environment. It also helps everyone to become fitter!!
The children are becoming more aware of their "Carbon Footprint." They are using a website which helps them to measure their "Footprint."

Children welcome teachers and students to North Leigh School!!

Everyone was very excited to meet our visitors!! We were able to talk to them about our school and to show them our woodland, classrooms and our village.

Cooking with teachers from Slovenia, Germany and Italy!!

The children at North Leigh School really enjoyed cooking traditional recipes with the teachers from our partner schools!! The food was delicious and was shared with parents, students and teachers at our International Evening on 21st May 2010.

From them, we try to create something new - we might say that this was a day when we used garbage as art. Students, we were divided into groups.
